The Department of EO and Telecoms (Earth Observation and Telecommunication) operates in the telecommunications sector with a particular focus on the development of algorithms for extracting information from Earth Observation data.Â
The Department operates in various sectors, providing innovative solutions in fields such as:
Agritech:
Allowing to monitor the state of crops over time, providing objective information on the environmental, biophysical and biochemical parameters that influence the final product
Insurance services:
Providing support for the improvement of services such as risk assessment, the detection of scams, the verification of goods and the adjustment of compensation
Applications for virtual reality and augmented reality
Environmental applications:
Through hyperspectral sensors that are able to acquire very precise information on the materials, types of vegetation and minerals present in a given place
Applications for cyber security in the Space sector
In the Cybersecurity sector, the team aims to raise awareness of the cybersecurity of digital infrastructures in the space sector through specific professional training and awareness programmes.
Operating within the Space component in the MIMIT Cyber4.0 competence centre, the Foundation facilitates the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and best practices in the field of cybersecurity, with a focus on training and simulation through cyber range platforms.
It also designs and delivers specialised training programmes for industry professionals and students to raise awareness and skills in cybersecurity. These programmes include theoretical and practical courses, bootcamps and on-the-job training aimed at developing the skills needed to deal with contemporary cyber threats.
